• What is the best solution for me?
  1. When reviewing the Results section of our site, use the Strategy Map to identify the basic requirements for your site. Send your strategy map to our Project Team, who will contact you to arrange a meeting. At the meeting we will discuss your requirements in depth, suggest additional functionality and offer you solutions.
• How do I get a web address?
  1. There are criterion for each of the different types of domain types (eg: .com, .com.au, .org.au, id.au, .net.au, .gov.au etc). For example, to secure a .com.au you must be a commercial entity, a .asn.au must be a recognised Association and an .edu.au an official educational organisation. • Why do I need a web address?
  1. In simple terms, a domain name is the same as your web address. For Get Started, our domain is getstarted.com.au and our web address www.getstarted.com.au - simply the domain with w's in front of it. If you would like an address on the Internet that is your own, and unique to you or your business, having your own domain is important. You could piggy-back your web address on that of another, like www.getstarted.com.au/joescafe - however, if you are serious about a web presence, you will secure your own domain (in this example, joescafe.com.au). Having your own domain also allows you to receive emails at your unique address. For example, joe@joescafe.com.au. While it is not necessary to have a domain to have your web site visible on the Internet, it is recommended.
• What is Hosting?
  1. Every site that is visible on the Internet, or specifically, the World Wide Web (www) resides (or is hosted) on a web server. A web server's only task is to be connected to the Internet 24 hours a day, receive requests for web sites they host and send them to the requestor through the Internet. Hosting is much like renting a house. Everyone needs a house to live in, and unless you are lucky enough to own your own home - you must rent. Having a web site visible on the Internet is much the same. Those people that have their own web server, connected to the Internet 24 hours a day, do not need to pay for web hosting, they can do this basically for free, as they own the server. If you don't own a web server, you must host your site on someone's web server, and pay them a hosting fee for this privilege. Why should you pay a hosting fee? Well, there are many expenses that go into keeping a web server live on the Internet. This includes power, traffic charges from the Telecommunications company, hardware, software and support. Web hosting allows your site to be visible on the Internet 24 hours a day for a fraction of the cost it would take to own and run your own web server.
• What are the payment terms?
  1. Before Get Started can start a web solution, we require a minimum 20% deposit. This deposit is non-refundable. We do not offer trading terms on web site solutions to our customers. Once we have completed your site, we will seek final sign-off and payment of the remaining 80% before we launch it. As a policy, we do not launch a web site that is not fully paid for.
• Can I have my own email address?
  1. Yes. If you have your own web address, Get Started can quickly and simply set up an email address for you, so you can start using joe@joescafe.com.au. Once you own your domain, you can have as many email addresses set up as you like. If your domain is hosted by Get Started, when someone sends you an email, it sits on our web server until you start your email program to read your mail, or check via webmail.
