    Hosting Upgrades at Get Started

    Over the past three months our Support Team has been investing a lot of time to establish a more secure, reliable and scalable hosting environment at our new datacentre. We have partnered with one of Australia's largest web hosting providers to build a totally redundant environment of servers that will mean superior uptime for our clients and faster delivery of our clients' websites to their users.

     

    Email

    We host and support well over 2,500 email accounts. Improving the performance of our email server was a very high priority in this hosting upgrade. We have secured an environment that will provide a huge degree of redundancy for your email. By redundancy, I simply mean that your email accounts won't go down if one machine or software program fails. In fact, they won't even go down if 5 machines fail!

    This also means that your WebMail client will be changing. You won't have to do anything when it comes to your Outlook, Outlook Express, Entourage, Eudora or other desktop email clients. However, if you utilise the Get Started WebMail client, then you will notice a difference when we move your email accounts. We will maintain the same login facility through the Client Area of our website but when you login you will notice a different layout. Included in the new WebMail client is comprehensive help documentation so you can learn about the new WebMail. You can also call us on 1300 554 891 to ask questions.

     

    Websites and Business Systems

    The only difference you will notice when we move your website or business system is an improvement in the performance and uptime! We have already successfully transferred all our TightPage websites (close to 100 sites) across to the new hosting environment. No downtime was experienced by these clients in the process.

    Depending on the type of website or system, there may be a need for a small amount of downtime as we transfer across databases, but in most cases we will be able to lock-down the databases and have two versions of your website or system running in the two locations.

     

    When?

    We will communicate to all our clients before we begin moving their website, business system or email across to the new environment. We are aiming to have all websites moved across by the end of February and all the email across by the end of March.
