Apache blows IIS out of the water

The Apache web server has crossed a market threshold by being installed in more than 50 million websites. The survey, by Netcraft registered that 17.5 million sites had been added to the world wide web making 2005 the strongest year for Internet growth. Even at the height of the dotcom boom there were only 16 million sites added. Most of the websites remain powered by Apache and the outfit's market share has increased to more than 70 per cent.
