Paul Sadler Swimland is a swim school with several locations around Victoria (and now branching into Queensland). Paul Sadler Swimland teaches swimming and survival skills to children aged 6 months and up.
In 1972, Paul Sadler established the founding Paul Sadler Swim School in Brighton. It was one of the first privately operated swim schools in Australia at the time. Our project manager for this website, Adrian DeWitts, learned how to swim at the Brighton school when he was 6 years old, adding an unique layer to the project for him.
Get Started built the first Paul Sadler site, and were approached again to build a new website that would stand out amongst the competition. Get Started worked with Paul Sadler on strategy, and decided the new website must be interactive and fun for children, while also making it easy for parents to get information about the swim schools.
Adults and kids have a very different way of using the web - our design team focused on making the site work visually for the two distinct audiences. Children “mine-sweep” a site, so there are many interactive flash elements for them to find and play with. Adults are goal-oriented in finding information, so we have created a clear navigational structure and concise easy-to-read page names.
Get Started built the new Paul Sadler website in the Kentico content management system, which was heavily customised for this project. Custom development around the Locations section of the website means each different swim centre page displays a google map of its location, a photo gallery and that centre's own events calendar. Javascript light boxes are used to display images from the galleries and email contact forms, to create a dynamic effect while removing clutter from the page. The swimlands host many activities, which are also featured on the website to showcase their emphasis on community.
The Kentico content management system is perfect for Paul Sadler Swimland - as a large company, with many locations, the ease with which any staff member can update their area of the site quickly translates into an increasing return on investment. Further, the Kentico system provides security measures for large companies with many website editors - different login accounts can be setup for each location or staff member, so they can only edit information specific to their location or field.
