Our Story

The Get Started story goes back to the giddy heights of 1999 when the world was absorbed in the 'internet economy' craze. While everyone seemed to be cashing in on the rivers of cash from frenzied investors and clients, the Get Started founders took a different approach: "Why not look at ways of doing it cost effectively, and focus on our client's return on investment?" Oh, how they laughed at us then.

When the 'tech wreck' came in 2001 Get Started was lucky enough (or wise enough, depending upon who you ask) to be specialists in the one thing that people still wanted:sensible, high-quality, cost effective websites and online systems that make our clients successful.

Since 1999 the company has grown into one of Australia's leading web development companies. Based in Melbourne, and with clients around the world, Get Started prides itself on creating the web solutions that our clients need, whatever that may be.

Because we don't chase the flashy projects and the big corporate accounts you might not have heard of us, but several hundred clients have experienced the Get Started difference.

Get Started turns 13! (July 2012)

A lot has changed since we started in July 1999. I remember our first dial-up internet connection that we shared amongst 4 computers in a warehouse in Tullamarine. While Google existed, at that time we hadn’t even heard of it. We were using Internet Explorer 5 and Windows 98! The likes of Firefox, Chrome, YouTube and Facebook didn’t exist.

I want to thank you for being part of our journey. Whether you have been with us from the start in 1999 or you have recently worked with us. We value you, your business and our ongoing relationship.

The Internet has clearly changed, as too has society. The concept of watching TV and having a laptop or iPad on your knee is now ‘normal’. Surfing the web on your phone to find a phone number, a location or a video is also commonplace.

The challenge for us all is to remain relevant as the web changes the way people interact and do business. One of the ways we are adapting is with the change in our mission statement. Our team has unanimously agreed on:
